Toronto twins doula birth multiples

Multiples (twins and more) - Doula Support

Having twins and higher order multiples is a special experience. But along with this uniqueness, comes a lot of specific puzzles and questions.

How will I get through this pregnancy? What should I ask my doctor? What will my birth look like? Will I have to navigate the NICU? How do I nurse or bottle feed two babies at once?

As a mother to twins, through working with a range of families with multiples, and as a member of Toronto Parents Of Multiple Birth Association (TPOMBA), I am well versed in the wonderful world of twins and more.  With my support, you will be able to confidently answer these questions and any others that come your way. You will feel informed and prepared to comfortably approach your life with multiple babies - FYI you truly are a hero!

Encourage A Positive Experience

Pregnancy, birth and new parenthood always holds the unexpected - and this is particularly true with twins. Whatever direction your pregnancy or birth moves towards, having the continuous, committed support of a doula will allow you to feel empowered and in control of your experience.

Offer Reassurance and Calm

It's guaranteed that you will have lots of questions (possibly worries) about your pregnancy, birth and your new babies. Most parts of what you will feel during pregnancy, birth and early parenthood are variations of "normal". A birth and postpartum doula will help you navigate the ups and downs of all of these stages, offering hands on support to make sure you are relaxed and at ease.

Ensure You & Your Family Are Informed

Calling on the most up to date and relevant information, doulas help answer your questions, decipher terminology, and act as a friendly guide. At all stages of your journey, you will know what is being offered, what questions to ask care providers and what "normal", in all its variations, can look like.

"Kate is fantastic! She is very warm and supportive of whatever kind of birth you might choose. Her support prenatally and during the labour, birth, and postnatally with my twins was so valuable and helpful. I was able to acknowledge and work with my fears and anxieties, and I felt like I had a certain amount of control over my birthing experience, even though many things are indeed out of one's control. Kate was always there whenever I had questions and always provided in depth and knowledgeable answers. I felt supported in the way I wished I had in the birth of my first child. I also love that Kate herself is the mother of twins - she could offer insight and help into the pregnancy and care of twins that only comes with personal experience!"
