Support, Guidance & Mentorship
for Doulas & Lactation and Infant Feeding Professionals
Over the years I’ve had many (ongoing) conversations, with doulas and lactation/infant feeding practitioners, at various stages of their professional journey. Here’s the most common questions I get asked:
What’s your recommendation on doula or lactation trainings?
What do I do now that I’ve completed my training?
Should I join an agency or run my own business? Or both?
Is this path possible for me, in this saturated city of Toronto?
Do I need to add other skills to my resume? What should I look into?
What’s the most enjoyable part of the job?
What’s the most challenging part of the job and how do you navigate the challenges?
Can I join your team? Can I shadow you?
Can I debrief this prenatal visit/birth/postpartum visit/client interaction?
If you recognize any of these questions, then you’ve come to the right place. This formalized mentorship ensures that you have dedicated support for whatever time frame you need. Our partnerships is as relaxed and easy going or as structured as you need it - we make it work for you.

Why Work with Kate?
At the most basic level, I have been in your shoes! I know exactly how it feels to start off in this very confusing world of birth and baby work and business ownership.
Over the years, I have learned a lot - through both positive experiences and lots of mistakes. I hope to share the good, the bad, the lovely and the ugly with, you in a candid and practical way, so that you can feel fully supported and confident in your practice.
I’ve been working with families, in various capacities for over 20 years. I started off as a primary school teacher and made my way, down the line, to work with babies.
I have been working in the birth, baby and infant feeding world for almost 10 years (hard to believe!). I’ve honed in on the ins and outs of the major hospitals, the nuances of working with OBs, midwives, nurses and other physicians and perinatal professionals. Most importantly, how to work with all types of families, in all types of birthing, postpartum and feeding situations.
My goal is to always meet families, and anyone I work with, where they’re at, with zero judgement, a bucket load of empathy, and a ton of evidence based, knowledge.
As a parent of 3, I also know the juggle well. If you are a parent, or you are intending to become one, while you are a doula or lactation professional, I have lots of insight here.
You’re well aware that the families we all work with thrive with a guide through their births, postpartum and feeding experiences. It’s invaluable to have a guide by your side when you enter into this line of work too.
I’d love to help you get to that place of strength and confidence.
